Our modern, fast-paced life clouds our inner state of being in the world and how we are taking part as leaders and changemakers. We have become used to being in the world as if we are not part of what makes the world what it is. We see this disconnect as a major hindrance to individual and organisational health and growth. It is not just seen in the way we treat our planet, but also in the way we threat ourselves, our fellow humans and in how we lead. The future calls for organisations and individuals who live and lead with clear wisdom and integrity.
How often do you make major decisions for our organisations with a mind full of daily noise, stress, and unrest? How often do you intentionally explore the potential of who and what you are?
Silence sets everything in motion
For thousands of years, people have sought silence, solitude, and contemplation when deep change and transformation were needed. Some of us feel stuck, some of us long for new inspiration, but most of us are ready for lives with greater wisdom, purpose and service to ourselves and the people we are engaged with, whether professionally or privately. Fifteen years ago, we began the same journey so many had done before us. We began a journey of bringing people into the desert to find answers to major personal, leadership and organisational issues.

We invite you on an alchemical journey in the Sahara
Are you ready to join a journey with us? We start in the end of 2025 by reflecting on where we are in our (professional) lives and gather as a community before entering a life changing retreat of emptiness.
In March 2026 we will meet in Marrakesh to spend 9 days deep inside the Sahara Desert with this group of like-minded explorers. Together, we will have the opportunity to explore the innermost chambers of our mind, body, and spirit.
Deep inside the secluded desert where only Bedouins and camels dare go, we will invite you to experience the expansion of life and eternity, both in shared moments and in solitude. The desert’s calm and peace offer a unique setting for deeper reflection and contemplation, creating space for insights about what lies ahead.
While 9 days may seem like a long time, we invite you to consider this Journey as intentionally designed to bring life-changing experience and learnings. Thousands of days are still to come in your life, most of them often without such deep intention. This Journey offers a rare opportunity for transformation.
Many who have joined this Journey before have shared a common reflection: they wished they had taken this step earlier in their life.

The Sahara Alchemical Journey…
In the desert you will find both clear wisdom and full integrity, when you are ready for it.
Sages have found peace, wisdom, power, and direction in the desert for thousands of years. We shall follow in their footsteps and experience what they experienced and reach a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world we inhabit as they did before us.
This is not a survival trip. We will hold you throughout this process of letting go of old and letting come of new. We are there to make you feel safe enough to do a deep dive into “unsafe” parts of development.

A new paradigm for leading and living
The world we live in is becoming gradually more chaotic, disconnected and rampant with conflict. So far, the current mainstream leadership paradigms have not been able to take humanity to its next potential evolution. We are at an edge.
A reimagined form of leadership, and a new breed of leaders must challenge the old paradigms. We have only begun to envision new forms of leading and living. While many of the current cutting-edge theories about leadership have been useful to inform our thinking, they have not yet been able to create great developments in the psychology of the people who are to lead us on this new and different path. The path we need to be on to overcome the multi-faceted challenges of our time.
For several years at Amara, we have been experimenting with a new paradigm of leadership and organisational development that goes beyond the most commonly applied theories in leadership. In this Alchemical Journey, we have assembled the elements we believe will help unlock new developmental possibilities. We offer it to the courageous of you who are ready to let go of the old ways of power and control, and who are ready to embrace the next evolution of consciousness, compassion and community.
